Social Determinants of Health
Social Determinants of Health (SDH) are conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks. These factors are key contributors to health disparities and can significantly impact health equity.
Education, Income and Social Status, Employment and Working Conditions, Social Support Networks, Healthcare Access and Quality are some of the major social determinants of health.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a psychological theory developed by Abraham Maslow in the mid-20th century. It provides a framework for understanding human motivation and the factors that drive individuals to fulfill their potential. The hierarchy is often depicted as a pyramid with five levels, each representing a category of needs that must be satisfied in a sequential order.

-
Economic Stability:
Factors such as income, employment, and expenses can impact access to healthcare services. Individuals with stable employment and income are more likely to afford health insurance and seek preventative care.
Economic empowerment involves the process of increasing the economic capacity and autonomy of individuals and communities, enabling them to make decisions that improve their financial situations and overall quality of life. This concept is essential for fostering inclusive growth and reducing poverty.
By equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills, they can pursue better job opportunities or start their own businesses. Furthermore, access to financial resources, such as loans and credit, allows them to invest in their ventures and achieve greater economic stability.
Another crucial aspect of economic empowerment is the promotion of entrepreneurship. Encouraging small business development can lead to job creation and support local economies.
Policy interventions also play a vital role in economic empowerment. Governments and organizations can implement policies that ensure equitable access to resources, protect workers' rights, and promote fair wages. By creating an environment that supports economic participation, marginalized groups can break the cycle of poverty and contribute to the broader economy.
